With over 130,000 potential members to locate means the membership of this organization could be very large if only 5% are located. If you have some spare time on your hands, access to a computer and would like to help while earning reunion credits, we would like to hear from you. You will also be paid double our President's salary. We will explain all the particulars and train you how to find these lost shipmates and squadron members and obtain addresses that you will forward to the office to have letters sent to these potential members. Finding lost shipmates is very rewarding and also, when you do find them, they will always be indebted to you for being discovered as you will always be their sponsor.
Volunteer opportunities are also available for all members if you would like to become an officer, board member or serve in one of the many leadership positions. Please go to the web page, Assn/OrganChart, and if you are interested in any of these positions, please send a brief resume with your qualifications to the office and let us know what positions you are interested in holding.
In order for this association to be successful it will take participation of many of the members. The hard part of building the foundation and setting up the corporation is done.
Naturally, our first group of officers, board members and committee members had to be appointed as there could not have been an election before our first annual meeting. Our By-Laws state members will not be able to hold more than one position at the same time. The founder of our organization will not be an officer, board member or committee member or hold any leadership position after all positions are filled. We only ask that you obtain the latest edition of "Robert's Rules of Order" from the library so you will have some understanding of how we would like to manage the business of the organization. It is an excellent book and no association should be without it. There are many laws in existence that protect members from being treated unfairly and we do not want any officer or board member to commit any act that will put the organization into jeopardy.
Another helpful tool for all officers, board members and committee members is 3-way calling on their home telephone. There may be times a meeting will be called by the chairperson and, of course, everyone may not be able to be in the same place at the same time. The next best option is teleconferencing. Presently all the officers hold a weekly conference call on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
If you are able to spare some time to help locate lost shipmates, you would be doing a great service to all the veterans you find. Once you know all the techniques to search for and find these shipmates and squadron members you will bring joy to them and also help the organization grow.
